First A.M.E Child and Family Center was established on December 1, 1980. The agency provides free Head Start education and social services to income eligible children and families in Capitol Hill, the Central Area, Rainier Valley, and North Beacon Hill communities.

First A.M.E. Child and Family Center (FAME) provides comprehensive child and family services at three strategical located Centers in central and south central Seattle.

Children from birth to 5 years of age are enrolled in our Early Head Start, Head Start and Child Care programs. In addition to providing a healthful and safe learning environment for their children, FAME staff assists families in providing health and nutritional counseling, collaborate with parents in developing individual and family strengths and partner with other community services to better meet the needs of FAME families. Our staff is highly trained and participate in ongoing training and development. They are dedicated to the development of young children and the creation of strong, empowered families.
